I recently received this e-mail from our member Adel Earnshaw from Blackpool
Hi John,
When my Dad and I first joined this site, naturally enough, we wondered whether we could claim you as a 'cousin' :o).....
I've done a little more digging and found that a branch of the family DID move to Shawclough.........all the way from Whitworth :o)
I don't suppose you can remember any details about your grandparents, do you ? I know that you mentioned John being a 'hand-me-down' name and that would fit in, but anything else you could tell me may help us connect, and then I can tell you more about where we all came from :o)
I'm still enjoying the site very much and must congratulate you on your dedication and hard work.
Best regards,
Adele
Well Thanks for your comments about the site as for my grand parents .I do know my grandad had a brother called SAMUEL and my grandmas maiden name was either MITCHELL or Ingham which is more likely as I had an uncle Frank who was the Mayor of WHITWORTH in the late 1950s early 60s I will delve abit myself next time I see my dad and get some photos off him
We had an Earnshaw family in Staining, nr Blackpool, where I was born. They were a farming family but one of the daughters was a school teacher at my primary school. I think her name was Elizabeth. My Dad knew the family quite well.
My researches have taken me back to 1820 Rochdale. The family lived in Healey and then Whitworth with Facit and Bacup thrown in for good measure. I haven't found any of our'n in the Fylde.....yet. But there again, I haven't managed to track each and every family member down through the years.
OK John. I'll send throught the branch that is definitely the 'Shawforth' branch. The chart I've drawn up is made on Microsoft Word so will be virus free.
What address would be best to use to send an attachment to you ?
