Well I am now back in Oswaldtwisle kissed by the lakeland sun , quenched by the Ulverston landlords and refreshed by the sea air of Barrow in Furness where I took some fantastic photos which our Ex Barrow members I am sure will be interested in veiwing as I have now loaded them to our Gallery (Barrow section pages 3/ 4) and also this one I promised of me in a suit although I am getting a little worried about the fact each time I have a photo taken I have a drink in my hand ..You can enlarge the photo if you are a FIREFOX browser by right clicking your mouse and clicking VIEW IMAGE ( if you dare ) and then clicking on your BACK arrow on your computer screen .
Well where do I begin to tell you what a wonderful time I and my family had over the weekend and how times once again came flooding back .
The weekend began by driving up the M6 and A590 to Ulverston and checking in to our Hotel which is owned by a couple who originate from Oswaldtwistle so we took some local papers up to them so they could catch up with time in Lancashire .
After a couple of hours relaxing and a welcome shower it was of the sample the delights of the local hostelries and meeting up with family and friends and laugh until you have tears in your eyes .after that times became a blurred until Saturday and the feeling of twenty hammers thumping in ones head and other reactions which I will not go in to , needless to say the full English breakfast was side stepped as I tried to come round for the wedding we were there to attend and the following festivities .
You could not have wished for a better day for a wedding , a lovely service was followed by a supurb meal at Newby Bridge followed by buffet and dance where memory cells where tested by a gent I knew from my time working in Barrow 20 years ago but alsa my brain forgot the dance steps I used to perform as a young un .
On Sunday we went into Barrow and it was there where I met an old work mate I have been trying to contact since I left the town in 1988 and shared the memories of days and people gone bye and finally it was a drive and paddle up the lakes .
So that’s that trip over and here”s to the next one up to BARROW again next weekend for some family buisness before hopefully meeting up with WIN and DORIS for some more fond memories and a drink (Tea or Coffee) and yes the camera is going with me , but for now its back to the riggers of work but the memories will remain .
Yep, dapper is the word Linda. You look good in a suit mate. Haven't worn one for years John, but I remember I always felt better bout wearin one when i had a drink in mi hand.
