With the weather being so nice and the fact I for some reason couldn’t get on the site this morning the wife and I went for a walk .Now there comes a point when you have difficulty around the Accrington area to find some where new to walk .Thanks to Dr Beaching and Lancashire county council I have now found a walk that may just come in handy .
For those who don’t know who this Dr Beaching was in 1964 he butchered the railway network in East Lancashire and closed lots of little branch lines .One such line went from Accrington to Rawtenstall and has now been opened up as part of the NATIONAL CYCLEWAY .With the weather being so lovely and SUNNY and somewhat mild we walked the length from Accrington to Baxenden up to Rising Bridge and back again .Now it is on walks such as this you wonder about lost industries and how folks worked in these days .I took some photos today and have added the in the gallery under A LOST RAILWAY but at least Dr Beaching left us with some nice walks
