Changes to OUR TOWNS ----ACCRINGTON Print E-mail
Saturday, 20 January 2007
old_accy I came across this photo of an old Accrington Corparation ( a leyland leopard ) bus the other day and for a moment I was lost as to where the pic was taken .I then realized it is on UNION STREET at what would have been the junction with Broadway .The layout and buildings in Accringtons town center has chanced so much over the years for example  I forget the pub on the left of this shot ( long since demolished,BUT are those changes for the better ,I personally think NOT .Accy was once a thriving, busy market town now as with many towns throughout our county PEDESTRIANISATION has killed the town centers at least we have photos to show us how our towns once looked and one day some folks may say thank goodness we have LANCASHIRE RE-UNITED to show us how LANCASHIRE has changed and pricked a memory .
