A Lancashire miners POEM Print E-mail
Saturday, 13 January 2007
lancashire_pitAlthough I sometimes like others get tried by the stresses and strains of a hard day or week at work we tend to forget about the mem who worked the LANCASHIRE coal pits .These mem worked long hours in dangerous conditions and many lost there lives in mining desasters  .I have found out that POEM"S where written of the mining days and feature one here called BANDS & BANNERS

BANDS and BANNERS

Furl not the banners

That carry the hopes of so many.

Banners that herald

A rich heritage,

And have led proud men

Along a hard and bitter road.

In front, the sounding brass of youth

That blows out it's heart

And stirs the souls

Of ordinary men.

Men that understand the silver notes

And what the banners mean
