Last week this website was featured on 107.3 ABBEY FM the NEW local radio station for the Furness peninsular on BILL CLARK"S late night show (PICTURED ) so as a way of restoring the balance I caught up with Bill to ask a few questions of this veteran of the FURNESS airways .

How are you enjoying working on ABBEY FM
--------Its nice knowing that at the end of your show you have kept thousands of people entertained for a few hours and they switch on for more the followig day so yes, i guess you could say I am enjoying it as much as the listener.
You have had a long career in radio how did it start
It started back in the 90s (or was it the late 80s) Its that long ago I cant remember,. Started out by sending lots of demos to lots of stations and having to suffer the usual rejections then one day my phone rang and asked if I could cover overnight on a local station. It went from there. One night led to a few nights over a 6 month period. After that I have worked on Internet radio stations as well as a station in Blackburn called The Bee when it first ran its RSL transmissions around 2003 and things just went from there. I also help out at the Hospital Radio station from time to time. I dont get much time but when I do I advise and help potential presenters,
Do you have any favourite Djs of your own or anyone you base your style on
-----------My style is based on myself. I dont like using other peoples styles as radio is all about personality and if you use someone elses style its as if you have nicked their personality and it doesnt come across as good. Thats one of the reasons I hate radio stations that tell you what to say. Radio is about being yourself and chatting to the listener and you cant do that if you are told what to say.
Whets your own favourite music

------------Abbey FM is my main job at he moment and the taxis is my other work. I only drive a cab one night a week but there again Im am on the radio 6 nights a week so that doesnt really give me time off. Ocasionally I will work 6 days radio and have the 7th off so the taxi side of things gets done maybe once or twice a month. As for running my own website it virtually runs itself, I never check it these days due to lack of time and I really do need to get some more photos on it and will one day.

It’s the run up to Christmas what do you like or dislike about the festive season
--------------Love spending time with family as I get very little time as it is and time is like life. They are both precious so the more I see of family, especially my mother the better I feel. Dislikes is the thought of eating turkey sandwiches for the next 6 months.
