decoratorMy working life began as a green behind the ears 16 year old .I serverd my apprentiship with Barrow Council .Now before I left school I must admit I spent most of my last year trying to escape but my first winter in the outside world painting ginnle doors on the STACKWOOD estate made me wish I was back in the warm surroundings of the class room .A gentleman by the name of DAVE McADAM was my first journeyman Dave was a teacher from the old school and began teaching me by putting me on ginnle doors for 6 months  .Criky it was bloody cold up them ginnles in winter tears induced by the cold streamed down my face  . After that I went on to do many jobs with the rest of the lads on the CORPY .40-50 odd painters worked (I use the term loosely) on our department I to this day I still miss the laughs we used to have I would love to catch up with some of them again .As freindship we had then still means a lot so if ever BOB THOMPSON ,TONY McMillan or Gary Crouch from Barrow ever read this site PLEASE get in touch .Oh the stories that could be told of the lads of those days DICKY LAVER,STUART BARLOW,BRIAN DENT etc I could write a book you know I just might .
