The journey up north -to BARROW Print E-mail
Thursday, 24 August 2006
thumb_dscf1094Due to a family commitment on Wednesday I drove north from my lancashire base to the town I was brought up in and lived untill 1989 Barrow in Furness .Each time I venture home I always find something has changed. This time the drive up took us passed the building of the High Newton by pass on the A590 this road used to snake its way through all the little villages on the way to Barrow as many of you will recall .On the approch to Dalton  is the south lakes wild animal park now who would have thorght a few short years ago such a thing would be here .The road into Barrow has now changed ,once you went passed the abbey but now you arrive in the town by passing the huge kimbley-clark factory .The town now is starting top become unrecocnisable but the memories of mime will never change unlike the buildings the one pictured is the new office block which is being named after one of Barrow favorite sons EMLYN HUGHES house .Yes the place has changed but the memories stay the same.
