During the late 1970s early 80s I used to go and watch BARROW RL every Sunday at CRAVEN PARK having the usual pint or 3 before and after the game plus PIE & BOVRIL during half time
Since returning to EAST LANCASHIRE I have only watched the occasional game on TV --Its not the game it was . Now news reaches me that a new team is to launch at DARWEN FCs ANCHOR ROAD ground . The EAST LANCASHIRE LOINS will play in this seasons RL Conferance and hope to play LEAGUE 2 rugby within 3 years.
I propose to adopt this side for LRU and follow there progress and hope some LANCASHIRE member of LRU who have never been to an RL game join me for a pint & pie and Bovril at the games which will probably be on a SUNDAY AFTERNOON . I will contact the management and see if we can hook up with the LIONS and show our PRIDE in being LANCASTRIAN ---TOGETHER --You never vknow one day I might get back to CRAVEN PARK
Its good news that were getting another Lancashire rugby team up & going, i remember Chorley having one years ago, i think money is the problem & ground sharing for most of these small clubs, but hope this new one stay`s, just found out off my missus that her mam used to work in the old kiosk serving pies & teas, used to hate going down there of a night match.
