Its always good to get your reactions to the little snippets that I place on the site. Its wonderful when a memory gets stirred such as the one in this e-mail I received from our Member JACK EDMONDSON
John:
I listened to the organ music from St James church in Barrow
with very great pleasure: a nice rich tone and skilfully played. My
granparents, Arthur James Hammond and Lydia Elizabeth Smith, were
married there on 31 July 1886. Oddly, perhaps, although I grew up in
Barrow I have never been in the church and, on my very infrequent and
fleeting visits to the town, I have never somehow found the time. I
must really put this at the top of my 'to do'list. Thanks once again
for this opportunity to hear the organ which may have played at my
grandparents' wedding all those many years ago.
Regards
Jack Edmondson
Wonderful Jack . I was a chior boy at the church and also turned the music pages for the Organist and I also rang the church bells which is quite difficult as I remember you must keep you head straight and not look up or the rope lifts you in to the air ----See what happens when you stir a memory.

I recieved this e-mail below and wondered what your thoughts where on the subject Let me know via the CONTACT US BUTTON
I am currently writing an article on accent and dialect in Manchester. I was wondering what your thoughts are on how the Manchester accent/dialect has changed over the years. Also, would you have any information on the history of it? For example we are all used to the Oasis style Manchester accent (like on the series Shameless) but many people dont realise that it hasnt always been like that. Do you think the change came about when Manchester detached itself from Lancashire and formed Greater Manchester?
If you could send me your thoughts/info I will of course credit you and your website in the article.
I had to go to Lancaster today so took the camera , Then a thought hit me Why not put the pictures into a video to make it more interesting take a look and tell me what you think ------I will of course still add them to the PHOTO GALLERY along with others of ACCRINGTON,BLACKBURN AND NELSON to keep you all in touch with the ever changing face of LANCASHIRE
I have uploaded some photos of Lancashire day in Nelson to the photo gallery ,and our newest members PENNY BLACK have also added a few frames one of which of the red arrows over Lancashire is a stunner. There are now well over 800 photos in the GALLERY which is sometimes i feel a forgotten part of the site so please take time to have a look and please leave some comments . I also have lots more photos to add in the coming days so keep looking in .
