New week ,New look Print E-mail
Tuesday, 31 October 2006

The new week for the site brings a new look ,I hope you like the New autumm colour scheme for the site .I know Stu is working on a complete revamp for the site so watch this space as there will also be another NEW section for those who like quizzes and puzzles comming soon .Today my job took me to LEYLAND & Morcambe (Again ) but the inconciderates wont let me take the camera. The weather has turned much colder in the UK but this afternoon there were some brilliantly clear veiws around the BAY area and the sky was a wintery shade of Blue .The work load means overtime is on the menu this week including Saturday but there is still plenty to keep you going so I will see you soon and dont forget the FORUMS

Ps We recived this email from GLO

John, I love your website, everything you write about, and I appreciate the tremendous work you put in to it. I have only small favour to ask, just to stop the tiny nagging pain that attacks me everytime I pop in, would you mind using the SPELLCHECK on your writing? Not wanting to take anything from your creativity and talent, but just a few seconds with Spellcheck would make the reading so much easier

. Many thanks As always your comments are very welcome and  I will try to work on my spelling but it only goes to show we are all human but unfortunatly the software for this site does not have a spell checker so the only way to correct this will be for me to type articals on my computer first and then adding to the site .

phpthumb I have had a conversation with the sites techno boffin and we are both agreed that the site is doing well .We now have video options something we belive NO OTHER site of this nature gives its members and a 30second video shows more detail than  still photographs alone and the site content continues to grow .The BIG puzzle for both of us is when people join a website WHY  join and not contribute .This site is gathering momentum and there must be something to comment on or you would like to add yourself .SO COME ON GET INVOLVED WITH what we belive to be LANCASHIRES Best site LANCASHIRE RE-UNITED.JOIN-UP LOG-IN JION-IN & NOW WATCH THE VIDIEO and watch out for further  exciting developments comming soon on this fast evolving website

Saturday, 28 October 2006

I have found out that the Digital camera I use takes Video pictures .I have spent most of the afternoon trying to down load the footage taken onto this site .I am very nearly there and hope that soon I shall be able to announce this major acheviment onto the site which other ex pats site will be able to bring you moving images  and just to think that it was not so long ago I was completly computer eliterate .I have noticed that tonight we went through the 25,000 hits mark which shows we must be doing something right -----Thanks now please forgive me as I go back to banging my head on my desk as I am determind to get these images on the site as in the words of my old primary school motto(St James C of E Barrow in Furness) If at first you dont succesed try try & try again (only truble is I have been at it for hours ) but belive me I will get there. It is now Sunday morning and after around 4 hours of trying to work it out SUCCESS .The only way I can find of uploading video footage is through GOOGLE   you will find there is no sound as the images are from my camera and it runs for 13 seconds as this is just a try out .I will take shots of other towns which will last longer  when I can it will be like you are standing in your home town.Thats it now I am off for a lie down, working the video is easy just click on the arrow on the bottom left hand corner the word BUFFERING should apper and the film will start

camcorderI know that the site is suffering from the lack of content updates now I am back at work for which I am sorry but I hope you will bear with me whislt I get both myself ,the website  & family commitments  used to a normal routine the thing is though that as I was off work when the site started it did start off like a rocket but now it will have to slow down.I would dearly love to go out with my camera and update the site but with work and the on set of the darker nights it is becomming increasingly difficult .I will do my upmost to keep the site updated but next week will be taken up trying to contact members who have signed up and not been on the site for a while and also trying to attract new members I am also trying to find out which software  & connections to use to put camcorder  images onto the site using windows media player so as to show you images of a Lancashire Christmas and also small documentories of towns in the red rose county as I am determind to make this site the best site possible for you to veiw  so as you can see I am still very busy behind the scences and I hope you will bear with me all I do ask however is that if you signed up for the site PLEASE use it I know I keep banging on but I have seen the members list and times visited and it does not make sence WHY join and not visit or take part   .For now though I shall leave you and catch up with you on Monday as I have family comming down to stay for the weekend . Please dont forget if you are a member of the site to LOG IN and would guests please sign the guestbook

clockPS For those in the UK dont forget to alter your clocks on Saturday night or Sunday morning

I  got home on Friday at 9 pm after an horendous jouney up the M6 from Crewe because of an accident at jnt 17 that streched to jnt 24, I had again been to Lancaster & Morcambe in the morning which was the forth time this week  the only good thing is I have been re-united with a DIGGLES pasttie some thing I havent  eaten for about 13 years  (Barrovians on the site will understand )  .At the time of typing  this at 7 am on Saturday morning I am about to set off on another journey up & down the M6 .I have never travelled  so many miles as I have done latley .Unforturnatly with the Christmas period approching I am going to have to work a lot of overtime and Sundays will have to be spent on catching up on jobs around the house and quality time with the family and I have just found out that we have relations coming down from Barrow next Friday  to stop over for the weekend (it feels like we are getting back to normal again )   so the site will have to take care of its self for a short while, with of course your help so PLEASE if you signed up to be a member get active in the site in the FORUMS or send me an artical about where you lived (eg OLDHAM ) and I will include it onto the site as I say get involved  or you may find yourself getting one of those annoying e-mails and after all why sign up to be a member of a site and not use it .If you are a new visitor to the site there are loads of photographs of loads of towns of the  red rose county and beyound  in the gallery infact I have travelled over 1000 miles  and loads of topics throughout the site as well as the forums which can only be replyed to if you sign up to the site which also allows you to upload your photos of LANCASHIRE but please read the important notice about uploading photos or comments to the site . Signing up for membership  is FREE  and you will be very welcome or if you dont want to join us PLEASE sign the GUESTBOOK  and leave your veiws on the site .As you will see in the top right hand corner of the front page I am now running weekly polls on topical debates please take part , other changes to the site will also shortly appear  I will be back as soon as work and time allows it maybe that you will see me logged in but this will only be to monitor the site whilst having a work break  .So what ever you are doing take care and thank-you for visiting Lancashire Re-united
