The Ulverston Print --It started with GEORGESLASS Print E-mail
Saturday, 23 August 2008

scan Earlier this year I went to meet our member Bernice ( Georges lass )  who had come back to this country after the sad passing of her brother . While I was talking about the site and Wallace’s kind offer of prints for sale on the site her dad GEORGE  began showing me photos of old buses he has ,  as one of Bernice's other  brothers KEVIN was a bus enthusiast the photo was  this one of a Ribble Motor Services bus in Market Sq ULVERSTON  which George kindly gave me . Sorry about the image quality as its a scan

A few months have now past and as you may know we  ( The wife  & I  ) spend a lot of time in Ulverston visiting a relative and I love the quaintness of this special town .

The SIR JOHN BARROW MONUMENT more commonly known as THE HOAD or PEPPERPOT  is an icon of the town  and is currently the center of a restoration fund project which  has been set up to restore it to its former glory,

So I had an Idea, how about  a print of the ULVERSTON BUS and offer it to the fund organization . So after discussions with Wallace plans were set . The only problem was fitting the HOAD into the painting and after much searching  of the net and appeals on other sites  a photo could not be found to produce the painting .

2008_0805ulvaug080005 So your intrepid webmaster had to jump on a train  (The 7.22am From Accrington  ) one Monday morning  to arrive at Ulverson at 9.34 and within 10 minutes I had this photo

Then after a quick walk around town and  a Bacon butty  jumped back on the 11.14 out of Ulverston to get back in OSWALDTWISTLE for 1.35pm and then to bed before my first night shift of the week which started at 10pm that evening

 ulver_4_prom
The photo was then e-mailed to WALLACE and now a couple of weeks later this is the fantastic  result which shows the HOAD and another Icon of the town a poster showing the latest film from LAUREL & HARDY ---Stan Laurel .was born in the town

This is now on offer to  the restoration fund and hoteliers in ULVERSTON to help raise funds to restore the Hoad----As well as also being available to purchase though this site ---in LANCASHIRE PRINTS--- of which more exciting news  of another ---MAJOR  project will be published  soon

And just to think this started with our member   GEORGESLASS .

An Invite to Open a Cabinet Meeting Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 July 2008

peter_brittcliffe You may feel that I have been talking to much lately about the Prints by Wallace Trickett we have for sale through the site . Without these prints which recall the municipal Transport operators of our Lancashire Towns and the funds they generate I would have to shut the site down  ( Again my sincere thanks to Wallace ).

I decided the other day as the print Wallace has done of a scene in Accrington is such a wonderful memory of the towns bus fleet , and plans are a foot to close the bus station featured and it is also the Centenary of the founding of ACCRINGTON CORPORATION TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT  and that I also live in the area , to offer one as a gift from LRU to the local council , an offer which has generously been accepted by the leader of Hyndburn (Accrington & District ) Council Mr Peter Britcliffe (Pictured )  and as such I have been asked to present one and open the cabinet meeting on 17th September and also give a short  talk about this site .

The Accrington prints have caused a lot of interest so much so they are now for sale through Accrington Library after they purchased some from me, and are now the main outlet in the ACCRINGTON AREA for this particular print , other towns libraries, Museums and also a fund raising intuitive in ULVERSTON  may soon follow.

So,after much leg work, many  e-mails and not to mention  hours  spent driving from town to town  this is now   helping to secure the sites future and allowing me to invest further in NEW STOCK for the shop and equipment for the  site and other features and competitions in the run up to Christmas  for the benefit of us all .

I shall be offering other towns a gift of there towns print thus Re-Uniting there town with memories of days gone bye and there MUNICIPAL FLEET

gallery_1088-2_wince Why not consider purchasing a print  from the growing collection they make an  Birthday or Xmas present for a loved one or relative  to remember days gone bye and maybe spark a memory --Go to LANCASHIRE PRINTS and order NOW . Payments are secure- via PAYPAL  and your print will be with you in days .

Please note the Lancashire print collection is
