Today with the weather being so nice we that is the wife and I decided to go out for the day ---on one condition I had to leave the camera at home . We went to SOUTHPORT as it was so nice and had a good look around ,as I didn't get chance the last time I went to meet CHAS as it was raining that day .
Now Southport if you have not been for some time has had a bit of a face lift and is beautiful and there are lots of new buildings and a new road bridge on the prom and it looks like a new hotel is being built on the junction where the merry go round is situated and the place looks like it has been hovered ,and the canopies above the shops on Lord St look really nice now they have been restored and painted .
As we walked along I felt the need to spend a penny ( its 20p in those cubicles now a days though )--now I know from my last trip to Southport that a McDonalds was close by as I approached you could have knocked me down with a feather as I saw a lady I recognized standing in a doorway having a ciggie , It was none other than JEAN ALEAXANDER aka (HILDA OGDEN from Coronation St )----DRAT NO CAMERA . Then it was of to get some chips and a walk on the pier . Again the pier has had a make over and looked beautiful with its modern tram car and pavilion which contains some fascinating old penny slot machines and a couple of what the butler saw machines , but the veiws out to sea were stunning ,it was so clear you could see Black Combe over MILLOM ---Barrow and all the way around to BLACKPOOL as clear as owt and drat again ----NO CAMERA ,wonder how many miles it is around the coastline --- I really enjoyed the 3 hours we spent in the resort and sort of fell in love with the place .
I will have to go back and this time take the camera ---you never know when you need it and next time hows about a Southport member coming with me as I take some photos and do a video . The chips are on me.

Myself and the wife have been exploring different walks of late so we took the chance to view 2 new PANOPTICONS that have been built above the moors around the towns of BURNLEY & HASLINGDEN in East Lancashire .I also took the camera to take some video footage which I have now added to the VIDEO VAULT . BUT---is it really modern art and does the environmental impact ( folks trampling over the countryside ,traveling to see them to by car ,building the pieces etc ) justify them being built , decide for yourself if this is art but still glory in the BEAUTY of the EAST LANCASHIRE HILLS. Lancashire day as you know is on 27th of November and I would like to invite YOU to scribe a LANCASHIRE DAY monologue to celebrate the day . Also on that day I wounder if WE COULD ONLY SPEEK LANCKY in our forum comments . Anyway back to the monologue. I received payment today from Bernices Dad for a Lancastrian & Proud polo shirt for (geogesless) so faster than a speeding superhero I set off over to POULTON from my OSWALDTWISTLE home to deliver the shirt to her dad (PICTURED)so he could take it out to the land of AUS next week . Not only that I am going back to Poulton on Saturday night because George her dad bought one (which I didnt have with me) for when he steps off the plane ( make sure I get a photo of you two wearing them please Bernice . Anyway seeing as the lights finish this weekend I am going to BLACKPOOL ---and taking the camera with me so I will get to do an ILLUMINATIONS VIDEO after all ----Anyroad I MAY deliver LOCAL orders of polo shirts to Blackburn Rossendale ,Skipton,and maybe Southport as a means of meeting you al (as long as I have received payment )l ------ but ROY in Norfolk yours is in the post and SYD in NEW ZEALAND and PSB in Canada -----Dont expect me knocking on your doors.----- Just thought I would share with you an e-mail I received from Bernice

Well Thanks for your comments about the site as for my grand parents .I do know my grandad had a brother called SAMUEL and my grandmas maiden name was either MITCHELL or Ingham which is more likely as I had an uncle Frank who was the Mayor of WHITWORTH in the late 1950s early 60s I will delve abit myself next time I see my dad and get some photos off him
