I like a lot of Northern lads I used to spend Sunday afternoon watching rugby league . Barrow were my team .Now Barrow were always known as the SHIPBUILDERS until a few years ago when to Carlilse team went bust and merged with Barrow . Now for some reason BARROW took there nickname THE BORDER RAIDERS ,a lot of teams are now using names like they are AMERIACAN teams .LEIGH are called the CENTURIANS Wigan -WARRIORS fans used to identify with there teams as freinds from yards ,pits etc would support there LOCAL teams and local lads from the pits etc would play for those teams BILLY BOSTON ,WILLE HORNE JIM MILLS etc great names of the past who after a game would share a laugh and a pint with the lads . Now as with football SUPER LEUGUE has taken the game away from the masses I have watched a number of games on T.V lately and I am sure most trys come from forward passes the game like the players are not the same anymore .Who did you support,who were your heros and what do you think of Rugby League now ,THE FORUM AWAITS
After a good nights sleep I have now added all the photos I took yesterday in the towns of WIGAN,ATHERTON & LEIGH and have also taken photos of the Reebok stadium area which are in the BOLTON file that makes it 350 PHOTOS OF TOWNS & CITYS THROUGHOUT LANCASHIRE I HAVE PERSONALLY TAKEN .Although now known as greater Manchester they have a proud Lancastrian heritage .I have noticed on my travels that the buidings of the old days seem to be vanishing at a rapid rate as the county advances into the 21st century .That makes it important that sites like mine capture the sights and memories of Lancashire before the are lost forever .I hope you enjoy looking at the sights of Lancashire and have happy memories of your old stomping grounds or places you havent seen for a while I know I love taking them and will continue to do so I can bring pleasure to my fellow LANCASTRIANS.where ever you are .
Its that time of year in the uk ,The Health & Safety brigade are at it again .Do you remember the days of PLAYING conkers wi yer mates .Well not any more if this lot has there way .
My working life began as a green behind the ears 16 year old .I serverd my apprentiship with Barrow Council .Now before I left school I must admit I spent most of my last year trying to escape but my first winter in the outside world painting ginnle doors on the STACKWOOD estate made me wish I was back in the warm surroundings of the class room .A gentleman by the name of DAVE McADAM was my first journeyman
I went into a local superstore last night and the shelves were stacked full of stuff for hallowein ,also two weeks ago I was in the Lowry Village Shopping center in Salford Quays and lots of Christmas Decorations adorned the shelves now forgive me but we have 5 weeks to Oct 31 and 12 weeks to Chrimbo .You can also bet once Xmas is over Easter eggs will be in the shops is it just me but things dont seem the same Traditions seem to be making way for profits and when the events come around I am feed up with with them . If you feel the same let me know on the FORUM oh and by the way bonfire night is comming up do you think in this politically correct world we should celebrate the attempted blowing up of Parliument which in todays world would be an act of terrorisum .

This morning after much deliberation I chose to have a FRIED SPAM butty for my breakfast .now close your eyes and remember the sound of SPAM CRACKLING away as it is cut thin going to a goldern crisp in your frying pan now add butter to the bread and BROWN sauce and bite in to a taste of HOME .Is there anything eles bar FISH & CHIPS and tatty pies that remind you of HOME .
Ps Before anyone tells me SPAM came from AMERICA with a fried egg on it wi brown sauce its BRITISH
Well its happened I awoke early this morning at 4am with a feeling of nettles in my throat .My daughter has very kindly passed on her cold to me .Now I dont useually get a lot of colds as I do eat quite a lot of garlic ,but I havent had as much garlic latley .So in this age of pills etc what are your home made remerdies to beat the winter colds please lets have them on the forum .while I go back to bed AHHHHHHCHEWWWWWW
