Hi to a Barrow born Lass! Thanks for the welcome it looks a great little site.

I live in Basildon which is not too far from Brentwood on the eastrern loop of the M25. As you can probably see from my profile I am doing some research into my fathers past, he was born in Ship Street Barrow 1916 so I dont expect any members to remember him ha ha but I may find a few Barrow born Lasses and Lads to fill in a few gaps about the Buildings and life in general over on Barrow Island. One thing you may be able to help me with - As a child from Ship Street, which school do you think he would have gone to?

Anyway enough of 1916 - what do you do in 2008? Drop me a reply when you get a chance and if theres anything I can do for you down here in boring old Essex just let me know.

Speak to you soon
Tom

Thanks Syd for the welcome. You a long way from home how could you leave those Lancashire pies behind? Still I suppose NZ has its good points! Are you there for good or will you return to the nest some day?

Look forward to speaking to you

Thanks John I think it could be Ship Street as there are 9 buildings in the block but I think Barque St Steamer St etc are the same layout - Thanks for the offer of photos but please dont make a special journey over there.

Hi Tom, I'm a permanent resident here, we arrived January 26th 1968, I have no plans for shifting back to England, and I can always phone my sister in Leigh for a Lanky natter.
