Hello John,
Its sad that todays society and governments have pampered to the minority . The bad apples always tend to suggest the rest of the crop is of the same.
I personaly see no wrong in helping a child,as a bus driver for many years on school runs many a time I had to sort out problems with children of all ages, though if it was trouble makers I would use humour to bring them down a peg or too. Parents entrusted you as a guardian of sorts.
In New Zealand I don't think its got that bad , I once travelled to Australia by myself and was asked to sit next to a young unacompanied 10 year old boy -for the trip to keep an eye on him. Also I would draw hundreds of childrens caricutures at school galas to raise funds for the schools.
Unfortunatly in 2008 it seems media hype and the "can't trust him" atitude that is sickening both society and often reflected in drama,s is having a very negative effect on the world.
Blame the minority groups who have issues in themselves and want everyone else to suffer for it.
as the song goes - 'a child is'nt born with a prejudiced mind-it only learns what it hears'
Generally,I think by helping the boy would give him knowledge of trust from adults he may not know, but will also make him trust others more which if everyone does, may just save society as we know it..
regards Wallace.
