I think I just found out how Darth Vaders voice was born. I have this problem with me ears, they don't work too well at times. A doc in Vancouver once told me, Mr Booth, my ears clean themselves, yours don't, (smart a**). , said I was missing a gene down to one of my parents. Well, every few months or so, I hane to go get em flushed out, a very pleasant experience if you like a hose pipe plugged into yer ears and turned on to the max. To get the job done reet, you have to put oil into the ears a few days before you have the procedure done, easier that way.
I put the oil on the cotton wool and shoved it in, and as soon as I did I felt like I should be holding a light sabre and wearing a big black helmet. Every breath I took a breath sounded like a hundred times what it should have been, sounded like I was breathing down a hosepipe. Then I had to get another beer and every foot step sounded like I was a giant, very thumpy, very loud. Everything thing was an echo inside my own body.
I'm not kidding, even had to take em out to write this post, kept repeating everything I wrote,
Gonna put em back in now, but first gonna place a finger in each ear, rotate to the right, then the left. go Ahhhhhh, a few times, then put them back in.
Phil.

Reminds me, have you ever tried noise cancelling headphones, great for listening to podcasts on the train etc because they stop the noise of children, inconsiderate people on mobile phones and any other irritating sounds. Only problem is that you can't eat anything with them on, the noise of your jaw and a few other things seems to be amplified about 100 times.

No need to buy the headphones right now Nigel, nature's doing a smashing job. Those things must work well, because when I chew with my ears full of oil and cotton wool that's what I hear. I even look around to see if anyone else is hearing the same thing, but no, just me.

I had a great holiday Monday, had a rest but also got a lot of things done that I was putting off. Cleaning that is. Everything went well till I got to the hoovering. Blasted machine worked well for a couple of minutes, then shut down for fifteen, so I left it turned on and did something else. When I heard it start up again all by itself, I run like he** to get another bit done until it shut down again. Kicking it didn't help, picking it up and dropping it three feet to the ground did'nt work too well either. I was tempted to throw it off balcony, but I couldn't muster enough courage to get that close to railing, I'm scared of heights. It got done, but it took a while. How was your day?

I honestly can't say you made my day Doris, but you got me thinking. I just took a look back thru this thread, blimey, I forgotten half of them! Funny thing is I only tell you about half of them!

The vacuum was a "refurbished" one about five years since. It's a great machine when it works so gonna go the cheap route and refurbish it myself and do it right.
